Baby Salsa - Nanaimo

I just discovered this restaurant after living in Nanaimo for 20 years, and I can't believe I hadn't been here before! My sister and I went for lunch on a Saturday, and the food was outstanding. We tried the Black Bean Soup, which was amazing, and the Tortilla Soup, which was also delicious. The tacos were incredibly good, and everything was very filling. The salsa was fantastic, and they aren’t shy about adding spice! I can't wait to bring my husband; he will love it too. We opted to sit inside, but the deck looked like a great option as well. The service was excellent, even though the place was packed. I highly recommend trying it out—you won't be disappointed! I also noticed a lot of takeout orders being picked up, which speaks to how popular this spot is.

Wonderful staff and excellent service. This cozy little restaurant sits on the corner of a square and can get quite busy, which is a testament to the delicious quality of their food. Each dish that came out of the kitchen for our table, as well as others, looked fresh and appetizing. My boyfriend and I were thrilled to stumble upon this place while heading to the ferry terminal. The prices are quite reasonable; my tacos were only $4.95, with an additional $1.25 for the shredded beef. They also offer a large variety of vegan options on their current menu.

Authentic Mexican restaurant right in Nanaimo! I wasn't sure what to expect since it's located in a strip mall, but I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent food quality and authentic decor. I was thrilled to find they serve Horchata, a Mexican drink that's hard to find on the Canadian West Coast. I ordered the delicious flautas, while the rest of our group opted for fish tacos, a veggie burrito, and a couple of other dishes. Unfortunately, I couldn't take any photos because everyone dove into their meals right away! Our (Mexican) waitstaff treated us to complimentary chips and salsa, and the chips were huge and wonderfully crispy. I'm definitely planning to make a beeline for this place the next time I'm in Nanaimo!

Wonderful mexican food!! we didn't expect a lot, but were craving mexican food. safe to say this place filled our cravings!! the enchiladas were delicious (we got cheese but would love to try chicken next time) the red and verde salsa sauce were good!! the del jardin vegetarian burrito was delicious and tasted fresh and refreshing! it was a good size as well!!! the fajitas were super good as well!!! the chicken was cooked deliciously! i recommend this restaurant if you are looking for mexican food in the area

From out of town and was in a pinch for a meal after missing my ferry. Wasn't initially expecting a lot from a tiny strip mall but wow was I wrong. Baby Salsa had GREAT authentic Mexican food. From the rice, salsa, and tortillas. I appreciated how large their menu was and how many options they had for vegan and vegetarians... they obviously put a lot of effort in catering to vegan Mexican food in additional to traditional meat forward dishes. I loved the food and I wish baby salsa was in my home town. Delightful surprise it was!!
