Right off the start when we ordered they Wouldn’t serve us and told us to sit. Very rude. Bad service. Would not recommend especially to Americans. When a Norwegian walked up he got served instantly.
Based on these Corona times, only this bar being open for food at the hotel and only two waiters working this was very good! I felt sorry for the waiters though...they had a full restaurant to take care of, being both bar tenders and bringing the food. All creds to the boy and girl working . However more staff neeed.
“Petrol station” food quality, slow and unfriendly service. Don’t go with a child since heating a food jar in hot water was an impossible task. Good for a beer and view.
Again, I will preface this review by stating I am a honest, reasonable, and balanced reviewer (here and on other sites). I actually very rarely give a bad review, as my long history will attest, as I can usually see some good in even bad experiences. For example, I will mention that I like the concept and the fine view. It seemed like a great venue to relax and have some sunset drinks. Also, I will say that I (truly) understand the circumstances. I have been in the restaurant and hospitality industry and know that sometimes unavoidable exigencies occur. I am writing this during Corona Virus times. Restaurants and hotels were recently green-lighted to operate with special procedures. I did not expect full 5-star service, full staff, full menu. My expectations were notched down low. We simply wanted to eat. What occurred was this. We arrived in Narvik later than anticipated due to traffic and irregular ferry schedules. We checked in to the hotel at about 9:30pm and were informed at the front desk that food service was to end at Tøtta at 10pm. We arrived at Tøtta at 9:45pm. It was crowded. Rather than taking our order which we were prepared to do (light pu fare), we were informed by the cashier/bartender that there is table service only and to sit down at any open table, somebody would be by to bring menus. Ok, we sat at a table near the bar watching the two people hustle. And for 15 minutes, as the kitchen closed, we waited. Yes the bar seemed understaffed and busy, but we were doing what we were instructed to do. As the prospect of food or even acknowledgment of our presence looked improbable, we just left to find a restaurant in town that was still open (before it was too late). Also, I know that kitchen staff hate those tickets that come in right at closing time. So, I am writing about my poor experience at Tøtta rather than my normal review of the restaurant food, ambiance and experience, because it did not happen. Note: Tøtta also lost our subsequent business as we had been planning an evening gathering at this skybar to enjoy the midnight sun, but we cancelled.
