Grandpa John's Nauvoo Cafe

We visit this restaurant every time we come to Nauvoo! The breakfast buffet is fantastic, even for my picky eaters.

On Sunday, October 16, 2016, while traveling on our Harley-Davidson near Nauvoo, Illinois, we stopped at a diner that was the friendliest and cleanest we've visited in years. The food, malts, and service were all excellent! We definitely plan to return someday.

During our visit, which happened to be around lunchtime, Grandpa John's had a welcoming atmosphere that drew us in from outside. The interior was quite pleasant. You place your order at the counter, receive a number, and then take a seat while your food is brought to your table. We both opted for the baked chicken salads, which featured fresh ingredients and tasted great. The price of $7.00 per salad felt a bit high, but we were satisfied with our meal. If we pass by again in the future, we would definitely stop by.

Breakfast Buffet. The same owner of the Hotel Nauvoo owns this establishment and they give patrons of the hotel a 25% discount. But it's not like we needed the motivation of a discount to eat there there are not a lot of choices for breakfast in this small town. The food is very good, however. It is the same basic buffet every day but there is enough variety that you won't get bored with the same thing every day.
