Portofino - New Farm

A couple of lunches suggest Portofino has an excellent kitchen staff, with skills at producing taste bonanzas whether the dish is small or large.

What can I say about this place that everyone knows. This place serves the best pizza. Great fresh, fresh ingredients and lovely display of desserts.

A disappointing experience at Portofino. We were seated by a friendly waitress who openly admitted to not knowing how to open a bottle of wine (cork). She asked us to open it so she could watch how to do it. We then poured our own wine for the rest of the meal as no one came back to do it. Lunch service starts at 12 and by 12.45 when we ordered a regular menu item had 'sold out'. It was not a busy day so I think this was more a case of 'we did not prep this dish today!'. The pastas we ordered were small in size, poorly presented and consisted of packet pasta with minimal topping. We did not stay for dessert!!

All I can say was the service was terrible and the food when it eventually arrived was at best average. The service was so slow that we gave up on waiting for our main after yet another hour had pasted. No apology was even offered for the poor service.

We chose this for a family brunch. it was our first time but won't be our last. The variety of choice on the menu was unique, tempting and delicious. Good value and highly recommended.
