The Plough Inn - New Forest

My wife and I recently had Sunday roast at this restaurant. I have to say, it was one of the worst meals we've ever had. The food was poorly cooked and lacked flavor, with no seasoning whatsoever. I couldn't even identify what I was eating if you had shown me a picture first. Would I go back there again, you may ask? I would rather eat at home! Additionally, the prices were outrageous at £27, and as we drove away, we noticed a sign that seemed to confirm that everything really was just as bad as we had experienced.

When we sat down, we were given no drinks menu and then waited at least 15 minutes for someone to come and take our order. We then ordered food with a young man who seemed to be on his first day. He was very slow...at taking our order and clearly didn’t know the menu as he didn’t understand what we were ordering. When asked what the specialty curry was to which he answered “I don’t know, personally.” Three of our party then ordered the specialty rib eye steak. The waiter didn’t even think to ask how we would like it cooked, so I made it clear how we wanted it. One Medium, two medium rare. When the steaks arrived, he placed one down and I asked if it was medium, to which he replied “they’re all the same.” The steaks were all cooked very well done and inedible. The mushrooms, also the same. When the landlady brought out the overcooked steaks she explained they were cooked wrong and that she’d take them off the bill but was rude and did not apologise. Do not recommend.

The plough is not far from where we live. During these difficult times we have been eating out during the summer months in gardens with good social distancing. The plough has it all A large garden and kids play area Huge car park Outside tipi...on concrete. We were always impin the summer. We brought our walking group here for our Xmas lunch as we knew how good the food is here and the staff are very friendly. I had the house speciality Ribs. Couldn't finish them, huge plate of 1/2 rack salad coleslaw chips and onion rings. Not one complaint from any one our walkers nor the dogs. We will see you again in 2022 when we are allowed.

Saw some bad reviews but went on a Friday night, food all well cooked and piping hot. Ribs, curry and kids nuggets and chips all very good

We popped in to visit the pub while staying nearby and despite reading a few negative reviews decided to eat there last night and were glad we did. The lady in charge was nice and friendly when we had a drink and booked earlier in...the day and when we turned up in the evening we were served drinks quickly , then ordered and food came within 20 mins despite sign saying 45 min wait. Starter was lovely and then both mains came within 10 mins of finishing starter and both were tasty and piping hot so no complaints at all and feel good review is helpful when lots of negative ones are put on.
