DAMATOS SEAFOOD II - New Haven

We came to this restaurant for the second time, having previously ordered combo #1 for 2. This time, we tried the mixed combos and were impressed. Our favorite dishes were the whole clams and scallops. We have traveled to many cities and states, trying a variety of fried seafoods, but this restaurant has the best fried food we have ever had. The food quality is consistently excellent and expertly prepared. Additionally, the staff is very friendly. If you are in the area, you must visit this restaurant.

This seafood restaurant that offers a casual dining experience is outstanding. They specialize in preparing seafood dishes with great attention to detail. For instance, when ordering their fish and chips, you can choose from five different types of fish. I opted for a platter of fried shrimp and crab cakes served with french fries and okra. When the dish was brought to my table, I was impressed. The portion size was generous, the food was perfectly fried and seasoned with flaked salt and fresh pepper. The crab cakes were filled with visible chunks of crab meat and had a satisfying texture. The shrimp were juicy and the breading was just right - not too thick or too thin. The okra was fresh and paired well with the house cocktail sauce. The steak cut fries had their skins on, which added a nice touch. The picture only shows the leftovers that I took home - there was actually twice as much food on the plate when it arrived. While the prices are competitive compared to other restaurants in town, the quality of the food here is much higher. I highly recommend trying out this restaurant!

I ordered takeout from this restaurant and got the mixed box of clam strips and cod, as well as a lobster roll. Everything was delicious and served piping hot and fresh. The staff was very efficient. I highly recommend this place!

I am from out of town and I always get seafood when I come to New Haven, Ct. Especially the whole belly clams which are impossible for me to get in my hometown. I always have encouraged others to dine in when eating seafood, it just tastes better. However, I was heading back to Florida so I got carry out. Whole belly clam platter….. Delicious!!! Even while riding in a truck. The platter included clams, fries, and onion rings. Lightly battered it was a fried food delight. My friend had a fried fish sandwich on toasted bread and he agreed that it was a good meal.I must reiterate this food is best serve hot but I won't complain about this one. The platter is big enough for 2 unless you are a big eater. So enjoy!

I love their food, even when we asked for no seasoning the food was good! We got the captain's platter so that was enough to fill 4-5 people and have some leftovers.Either way good food and nice people! I've ordered from them before and they were very kind to us. I definitely will get food here again someday when I can.Please buy food here if you like fried seafood!
