La Charla - New Paltz

The bartender at this restaurant is extremely friendly and provides great service. The place itself is beautiful, and we sat at the bar to eat. The food was delicious, although it was missing a seasonal touch.

I was in the city for a weekend getaway to escape from Covid. The staff took their time to prepare everything. I had wanted steak tacos, but unfortunately they were not available when we left. The guacamole was fresh and tasty. Overall, there were some nice little touches, but some aspects were not quite right.

This restaurant is fantastic, with excellent food and welcoming service. Be sure to try a margarita and some tasty tacos while soaking up the atmosphere. Ideal for group outings.

The critical reviews of this restaurant perplex me, as this was the best Mexican restaurant I've gone to in years. It is truly Mexican so anyone interested in Tex-Mex will be disappointed. There are even fried grasshopper tacos on the menu, which I couldn't get myself to order. But I did have the tacos nopalitos with cactus and huitacohche which were superb. In addition I had the plantains. The waitress warned me that they had sugar on top but according to her that's traditional Mexican. They were fabulous. I'm in New Paltz just for two days and I'm going there tomorrow for dinner and will order take out for my flight back west.
