Food was pretty good, a bit overpriced for what it was but not bad. Service was also a little slower than ideal for how busy it was. Overall not bad
Delicious, YUMMY dishes! The poori was puffy, with a nice, unexpected awesum mouth feel chew to it. I had a spinach and mushroom dish which is my current favourite...I like the texture of the mushrooms it's a nicely balanced dish, not dissolved bits swimming in sauce-so,so good! I love the presentation of the entrees in this lovely copperware...my mango lassi was smooth, not 2 sweet-purrrfect! My ONLY disappointment is not being able 2 have naan instead of rice. Not sure why...most Indian restaurants allow that substitution...
Kismat had been a favorite in the Washington Heights neighborhood for as long as I can remember, back when they were half the size they are today. I just had a wonderful dinner experience there with my mom and my dog. It is a wonderful family owned business that offers delicious food and a great happy hour. Although they always had a popular outdoor seating option, during covid they expanded the outdoor seating area and it is comfortable, family and dog friendly. My favorite entree is the salmon and spinach special, it is delicious and generous with their servings of salmon and creamy spinach. Of course an Indian meal isn't complete without an assortment of breads such as my favorite garlic naan. I also highly recommend the mango lassi, but I like to order it to-go and have it separately because otherwise it can fill you up quickly. Overall, such a fantastic restaurant that is perfect whether on a date, with family and friends, or enjoying a drink quietly alone.
Regrettable! I ordered from them by grubhub, which indicates in the special order that I have a food allergy. the food came up with the seasons I am allergic, on everything! I called the restaurant and, instead of apologising, the manager called me to know that Indian food always contains this flavor! (who I know is not true) he was very rude. how would it be to call me before the delivery to tell me that they could not prepare the order without the apron, instead of supplying a meal that could kill me? Luckily, grubhub took care of it, but I was without food and a sense that they really do not care about their customers.
