La Masseria - New York

Usually have a good time here. This time not so much. Sat next to hookah smoke while eating. ‍Service was slow.

I had no idea this was a hookah bar. I wish I would’ve known ahead of time. My bf left because of the smoke. Food was good though

The appetizers were ok. The main dish, bandeja paisa, was really bad. The service was Ok. We will not come back.

We thought this was a solid dining experience. If anything was lacking it was the service — lacked any personality or warmth. All apps varieties were solid, seafood salad was excellent but the fried shrimp and calamari wasn’t crispy more like soggy too much oil. All but one of us had a pasta as a first course they were all good the short ribs probably the best and pasta cooked al dente. The penne was over cooked a major issue for me. Entrees were very good branzino with the tomato mushroom side was bright and cooked to perfection loved the subtle smoke— well done chef! The special…squid ink pasta had great flavor pasta cooked perfectly unfortunately lobster was a little over cooked. Risotto was good and chicken parm good but I blames our guests lack of creativity in her choice on the latter: Masseria better than many, but not great enough to make me want to go back.

Great restaurant with great food. Recommended to all the Italians people
