The lobster is cold people! Ice cold. That was a shock for me. I worked all the way down here for what I imagined a warm, buttery, garlic lobster...
We ordered the trio; Shrimps, crabs and lobsters. The lobster was delicious and the crab. The shrimps were too fishy for me. We also had the lobster...
I would give Luke's Lobster 4 1/2 stars. If the lobster rolls were more filling and less expensive, I would probably eat them several times a week. However, after trying them out, I'm not sure if that would be a good idea. I stopped by on a Friday for a light lunch before a casual dinner later in the day. I had some experience with Luke's when I worked in Jersey City, as they had a food truck that I visited a few times. However, I eventually stopped going due to the availability of cheaper lobster roll options nearby. The price point at Luke's is still high, but considering that lobster is generally expensive, it's understandable. I was pleasantly surprised by the cute interior of Luke's, which had a nice seafood snack vibe. While it was a bit cramped inside, it's hard to find a spacious spot in lower Manhattan. The ordering process was quick and easy, as a lobster roll doesn't take long to prepare. Compared to the food truck, Luke's takes a bit longer, but it's worth the wait. I recently had a terrible lobster roll at another restaurant, which had a strange combination of chopped tomatoes and mango. Luke's restored my faith in lobster rolls, as theirs was one of the best I've had outside of Maine. The seasoning was perfect and the brioche bun was delicious. The customer service was also great, with the cashier being friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was pleasant, and it seemed like there was a good rapport among the kitchen staff and regular customers. I would definitely visit Luke's again, though probably only once or twice a month due to the price and calorie count.
The trio plate was scrumptious, with the lobster, crabs, and shrimp all tasting delicious. I was pleased that they weren't just smothered in butter, as it can sometimes mask the sweet flavor of the lobster. The service was quick, but the prices were a bit steep - I believe a full-sized lobster roll could set you back around $30.
