Írjon visszajelzéstWell...... if you are looking to order a $20 piece of bread, I have the spot for you!!!! I ordered here a few months ago, and it was great even posted a glowing review. The ratio of meat to bread is now to 10/90. I know we are going through rough times but please don't make me pay $20, plus tax, tip and delivery fees $30!!!!!!! for a $1 piece of bread with a dash of meet in velveeta. Photo attached.
In the era of COVID 19, I make sure to try to revisit a lot of the places I 've been to in the past. So when I was in the area I thought about Shorty 's, especially since they close their Brooklyn location it 's harder to get around to them. We entered the door and upstairs is blocked off with barroom furniture, so we followed the sign and went directly downstairs. I should have left instead. 1st issue: the menu posted on the glass, at the register is no longer accurate. If your prices have been different for any amount of time that menu should reflect that, whether it is a sticker, marker, tape, post it or whatever. I have no problem with price changes, but they are quite surprising when to regular cheesesteaks total 31. 2nd issue: no sanitizer anywhere and the space is dingy and not so nice. There was a boiler room of sorts with pipes and such with ripped insulation hanging down from the ceiling. I wish I saw this before ordering. And kitchen staff kept coming in and out. I really wish I had seen this. 3rd issue: The indignant cashier with a droopy mask, more interested in a conversation with co workers. This really should have been my 1st cue to leave, but once again, trying to support local businesses I know are decent. 4th issue: the food. Two sandos felt like one. Very lightweight. I 've been to multiple locations on many occasions and this didn 't feel like a Shorty 's original. Still, I kept positive. I was sooooo wrong. What happened to this place? The quality of the cheesesteak was awful! Tasteless, fatty meat, an even thinner cheese sauce and a few onions sprinkled in. Fishing out gristle while you 're eating is not my idea of a good time. It is very obvious that they have changed the bread from the original kind they used to have brought in from philly. Now its regular old hero bread trimmed from some local Bodega! The amount of filling in each sandwich has been cut down to half! And after eating this tasteless waste of time, my stomach decided it was 'no bueno ' on the stomach too! What the hell? So let 's get this straight..... charging more for less quality and quantity a dingy space and half ed service!? 30 minutes of asking God to help my digestive system. No thank you! This was infuriating. This was a 0 star experience. The two there were for nostalgia.
I like Shorty's for the happy hour. Strong....potent drinks. If it's really busy it can take forever to get a drink so you might wanna order your 2 rounds at 1 time. Don't come here on ya date trying to mack. Don't bring ya uptight mother-in-law before you propose. Don't bring that shy co-worker that needs to sanitize all wooden surfaces here cause... It's loud, it's crowded, it's divey....and yet amazing! You're going to be a people person whether you like it or not. It's hard to have a conversation so make sure you're cool with sipping your drink and staring at those around you or playing a game of who can lose their voice first cause during happy hour it's ridiculously packed and it's a fight to get a table so come early on Friday nights. I went with a colleague and we we're lucky enough that a server actually scooped a table for us. If it wasn't for that we would've left immediately because there was barely any room inside. Guess they're doing something right. I'd still go back.
Ehh it's ok. I like that they offer cheese wiz for their cheesesteaks, onions aren't fried, they're somewhere between raw and steamed. The Italian parmesan fries are great. How do you have a Buffalo wings and chicken fingers section but no Buffalo wings? Nothing special about the cheesesteaks and wouldn't be my first choice if I was craving it
Want a Philly bar in NYC? Here it is. Football Sunday's are wild. It's like being in south philly and surrounded by all your jawns. Cheese steaks are good for NY. Def worth the stop, if you're not a philly fan you'll love the cheese steaks and cheese fries!
