Barge Inn Tavern - Newport

Had a nice breakfast at Barge Inn Tavern in Newport! Good food, drinks, service, prices, atmosphere!

I hadn't been to the Barge Inn (boasting to be the Home of Wino's, Dingbats, Riff Raff), in about 10yrs. Forty years ago it was a little fisherman's hangout with plenty of spicy customers???? Today it is modern looking and very nice inside. I don'tknow if it still gets spicy, but maybe I'll visit on a Friday night to check ???? Had a bacon cheese burger fries, and it wasthe best! Definitely will be going back! Wow!

Looks like a local hangout. Two flipper machines a few gambling, and a billiard table. There is a small area for the band and a little more space for dancers. We bought a Clam Chowder over the street and ate at the bar. The bartender and others were very friendly and helpful when we needed food advice. We heard great live music during a three-hour jam. We will certainly visit Barge Inn again.

Fantastic burgers, great drinks and a clean laid back atmosphere. Will definitely be returning.

Highly Recommended for the light of heart and the free spirits of this world. I was just passing through Newport for the night and randomly chose a place to stop in for a drink. I chose the Barge In Tavern because of their sign “Home of the Wino’s, Dingbat’s, Riff Raff”. The Riff Raff part spoke to me to so I dropped in. I had very low expectations of this place but they exceeded them by far. Tiffany and Kelsi were awesome and made everyone there feel like they were home. Kelsi also made one of the best Old Fashioned’s that I’ve ever had. If you’re in Newport, give them a shot. You won’t be disappointed.
