Hoag Hospital Newport Beach Emergency Room

Unfortunately, my experience at this facility was not the best. I recently had a serious incident where I hydroplaned, spun out, and rolled my vehicle, leading to an ambulance ride to the ER. The staff were friendly, but I received subpar care. I felt largely overlooked until I had to request ibuprofen for my headache and neck pain. While they were prompt in taking my blood test, the doctor only checked my neck and abdomen for pain. With a surge of adrenaline in my system, I wasn't fully aware of any injuries, and instead of receiving proactive care, I found myself having to ask for it. Just as I was about to be discharged without any further scans or tests, my mother-in-law had to step in and advocate for additional assessments, only to be offered an x-ray of my neck. I did not receive any guidance on the next steps for my recovery. Fortunately, I can still see other doctors and my chiropractor to sort out my condition. I hope this facility can improve the quality of care they provide to future patients and incorporate more attentive practices.

I've visited this place a few times—once for an asthma attack and another time for severe chest pain. Each time, the staff was incredible—kind, thorough, and efficient. I'm very grateful to live nearby Hoag.

The waiting room was full but was wait time was appropriate , I ended up having something more serious so had to do a 2 night stay and I must say they treated me like royalty , very friendly staff! The people in triage a very personal humble attitude all the way to the room the nurses and team on 7th west floor! , very attentive doctors really get to the bottom of what’s going on with you. not being from California having friends or fam was little scared and lonely but the way the staff made me feel, i knew i was in great hands and for that I truly thank Hoag for it!

My mom has been to this ER so many times I can’t keep track. She is fighting cancer, got a pet scan that says she now has pneumonia it’s hard for her to breathe already sue to the lung cancer. Urgent care said for her to go to the ER because she needed to be treated right away, yet she’s been waiting over 3 hrs so far tonight…Last time she waiting over 7 hours and the longest she’s had to wait was over 12 hours. She’s also in her seventies and my dad is exhausted waiting by her side. Clearly our medical system is broken.
