Mission Bbq - Newport News

My youngest son said, most places will say they 're the best. But Mission BBQ actually is THE BEST. We had an amazing first experience at this location. The food, atmosphere and staff were spectacular!!! Susan talked with us about the history of Mission BBQ and she was so friendly and knowledgeable!! She really made our experience 10 out of 10!! Keep up the great work guys!!!

We arrived just after they opened for lunch on a week day. We're greeted by Chase. He showed us where to order and checked in with us several times throughout the meal to be sure we were enjoying ourselves. He explained to us the mantra of the restaurant and also his personal reason for serving others. The singing of the national anthem at noon was a great experience to witness and join in with several members of active military present. Looking forward to coming to this location or another soon.

Despite me having a free sandwich card from another restaurant, they took it without issue. The BBQ was decent with the pulled pork chicken being personal favorites of mine, and the black plate specials are worth a try every once in a while. They also have a number of different sauces to better suit your individual tastes.Food: 3/5

1st time going there didn't understand their menu set up and the cashier couldn't have been any nicer an more happy to explain the menu items and the combos everything and they were very knowledgeable of the whole menu not just parts. The other servers for lack of a better word explained how they cook their meats fresh and daily no microwave no freezer just pure quality 10 out of 10 no they get 20 they were something else I don't think I've ever had friendlier service.

We have eaten at this location many times. They always go above and beyond but today was really special. We were having lunch then the national anthem played. We stood and sang it. They brought us a free banana pudding. Now I'm not saying they do that all the time but we were the only customers at the time. I'm gluten free. It is typical for a place to not have a dessert for me so my husband usually opts out. Today was different, they came back with a gf version of their banana pudding which absolutely 100% made my day! I was Ble to have dessert with my husband. So again not only are they careful to not cross contaminate my lunch but adjusted their dessert for me too!Dietary restrictions: Fries are fried in their own fryer. Banana pudding can be served without vanilla wafers as long as they have pudding available(pudding is gf)
