Not far from Billy Joel's Italian restaurant in Amici's front door was a verse of the song. Red Checkered tablecloths a bottle of olive oil on the table, friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere set the stage for a pleasant culinary experience. The menu is limited but meets all high points. Meal, chicken, shrimp/Clams. red sauce and brown sauce to satisfy every palate. The prices are reasonable and given that the participants with soup or salad amici offer great value. I've long stopped complaining about restaurants that don't make a side salad as part of the meal. Now a salad has become a $11 appetizer! Amici's should be congratulated to not give up the trend of less and more. My other pet with restaurants is their wine prices. All these north-eastern family-run places usually had an affordable house wine, did I dare date myself and say half-carafe wine? Again Kudos to Amici to chew the trend. There's a reason why you're open at 4:00 and 4:30 parking is hard to find. We were the first in the door at 4pm, in fact we waited in the parking for half an hour. We found this place through online reviews, and it was worth waiting. Gina waited for us and Mario came to the table and chat. Talk to Mario for three seconds I knew we had a connection and safe enough, we both came from Long Island NY. I had the Kalbsal, Amici. The calves were not fried for all-you healthy nuts served with a brown sauce over what tasted like homemade pasta. The dish was delicious and the mushroom was fresh, not skillful. My wife had shrimps with spaghetti and spinach, again the pasta tasted fresh and was a beautiful part. Great food, reasonable prices, friendly efficient service means it will be hard to get a table. I hope they join other Charleston restaurants and make the move to Summerville! Amici's is not this bucket place list type of place where it is one and done, nope it is a place where you finally have your regular table for a weekly culinary experience. Mario, I will save the corner table again!!
Definately come bacl, i was not too hundry but i finish everything. Because it was delishious. Mussels wirh linquini was wonderfull. As far a tiramisu it was good, but for me too much almond flovor amd no coffee flavor. I prefer with little coffee taste.
Tonight was the 1st time eating at this restaurant at the recommendation of my son the food was amazing. The atmosphere was really nice, very family friendly. Waitress was great attentive to us all her other tables that I could see. The owner even stopped spoke to us. I highly recommend everyone go in for the amazing Italian food great service.
The atmosphere was beautiful, and our host, Mario, was incredibly lively and friendly. We also met the owner, Jennifer, who was warm and genuine. We enjoyed a nice dinner, though the portions were a bit small. I highly recommend trying the Limoncello after dinner—it's simply amazing!
From the lovely music (many of the songs in Italian) to the couples from NY and NJ sitting at the next table (I love their accents), you can tell you're in for an authentic Italian dining experience in Charleston. The wine was exquisite, the bread was fresh and served hot, accompanied by EVOO and balsamic vinegar on every table. The waitstaff was incredibly attentive, ensuring that every desire was met. This place is all about fresh, homemade pasta, delicious soup, and a delightful atmosphere. While you're there, please raise a toast and say a prayer for my safe travels!
