At a table next to us, 4 middle aged men in suits were enjoying a orders from the Combo Menu of food and Soju. The restaurant is comfortable and relaxed...
After renovation, this place has completely changed from the menu to food quality! The price is definitely fair and average , but food quality is amazing. So fresh. Lots of side dishes as well. Customer service is excellent
Whenever I'm craving for a soup that is warm and comforting, I like having Korean beef bone soup or oxtail soup. One restaurant in Toronto that makes them the best is Lee Nam Jang. They're known for their wide variety of soups and stews, but they also offer a great selection of meat and noodle dishes.
This area has some really solid Korean restaurants and this place is definitely up there in terms of quality however the prices are definitely on the higher end of the scale.. <br/ <br/ We started with the seafood pancake, which was one of the better ones i've had. It's loaded with chives, veggies and seafood, so its actually pretty light and not too doughy. Beef bulgogi was generous and beef was pretty good quality. The beef soup I thought was a little bland its really just good beef broth with little complexity will try the spicy version next time. <br/ <br/ Service was not impressive, not sure if they were understaffed but took forever to have someone seat us. Also our waitress did not speak english, so our soup was not ordered and we only received it after everything else was eaten.
Seeing that the soups were the first items on the menu -excluding the appetizers- I will assume that this place specializes in soups, especially the seollongtang (beef bone soup). They have a gigantic pot in the kitchen for this (I think)It was a cold day and I wanted warm hearty soups for takeout. Ive been walking passed this place a couple of times. I usually like eating soups at the restaurant because the clay pots keep the contents hot for longer but I was alone so I decided on take out. I got a large seollongtang and my bill came up to about $19 so not the cheapest meal but its beef bone soup. it takes forever to make and im not about to make it myself so I think its worth it. For that price you get the seollongtang, rice, kimchi, ggakdugi, chopped green onions, salt and some chili mixture. Because the soup is bland and you're meant to season it yourself. This is where I wished I was eating at the restaurant because I missed out on the banchans and unlimited supplie of kimchi and ggakdugi and other seasonings. It was still really good though, The thing that impressed me more than anything was the take out packaging. It's something you never see here in the west but I think this kind of packaging is super commong for takeout places in korea. they're rectangular plastic boxes that have sealed plastic cover on the top (like the way bubble tea cover is sealed) They seal the soup, the rice and the kimchis. to ensure that no liquids escape. I came home and thoroughly enjoyed the seollongtang. Next time I will definitely go eat at the restaurant for sure. and take photos too.
