House 406 - Northbrook

I can always rely on House 406 for beautifully delicious food, and tonight was no different. We absolutely loved the horseradish-crusted fish, roasted vegetables, Brussels sprouts with bacon, and the inventive mocktail. I can't wait to return!

There was a lengthy wait of about 45 minutes before we could place our entrée orders, and another half hour passed before they arrived courtesy of some friendly servers. The rib appetizer and Brussels sprouts sides were enjoyable, but my salmon salad was a letdown; the fish was incredibly dry, and the dressing on the greens beneath it was excessive. After trying for 20 minutes to get our waiter’s attention (he seemed oblivious even as we called out to him), I eventually had to leave my chair and find him at the reception desk to explain that I couldn’t eat my salad. During this exchange, a woman who appeared to be in a management position watched us but seemed indifferent to the situation. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.

This weekend, we had a delightful dinner at House 406 for our 'gal plan' gathering. The ambiance was stylish and inviting, making it perfect for catching up over a nice meal. The food was delicious, as each of us ordered different entrees, and the service was attentive. Overall, it was a great place for a laid-back evening.

3 of us sat outside, lovely evening, service from Scott was great. All 3 of us had the Short Rib/Brisket Burger and the Lobster Crostini Appetizer. I could make a meal out the the Lobster Corstini's. I also think the Burger is one of the best on the North Shore!

The service is always great, never too pushy or inattentive. Food was delicious. The patio is nice too which makes dining even more pleasurable. The carrot cake is delicious. Save room!
