Only open a few evenings a week, I’ve been meaning to shoehorn in a visit for several years, when cottaging in Bamburgh. Glad I did as the food is superb. The format choose three ‘tapas style’ dishes per person for a set price will not suit everyone; and the portions in these tapas dishes are generous so come with a big appetite. Puddings here are also fantastic so I just confess I didn’t do justice to one of my tapas: I’d have liked a two courses plus dessert option. The fresh crab crostini was beautifully well balanced crab, but I’d have liked a smaller crostini. My halibut on a rich Spanish bean stew with chorizo was *sensational*; really a triumph and rich full flavour; my chilli prawns had a lovely heat. Dessert was an outrageously good rocky road warmed slice with excellent chocolate ice cream; fresh berries and a fabulous salted caramel sauce. The wine list here is superb: I splashed out on a special bin end and it was worth the price tag. I really enjoyed the food here, but must also say how impressed and incredibly friendly, and knowledgable are the young, small team. So pleased I came

Great food, great service, great ambience. Tapas style a la Northumbria. Only things that we would have preferred would be to place the service of the dishes at slower rate. Highly recommend

My dining experience at St Auden last night was delightful. The tapas menu, where we chose three dishes each, was unique and enjoyable. The hake dish and mushroom dish stood out as exceptional. The service was pleasant and the wine list offered a refreshing variety. If I ever find myself in the area again, I will definitely return to St Auden.

Portions were better than average this family run business making sure nobody had any complaints. Service was good with adequate, attentive and experienced staff waiting on. Check opening times and book early as very popular.
