Unlike some previous reviews mentioning issues with inexperienced waitstaff, we found our server to be well-informed and very helpful with meal recommendations. They were attentive and assisted us in properly applying our Groupon for the bill. The food was delicious, and the portion sizes were just right. I ordered the rainbow roll, while my companion chose the green devil roll, and both were fantastic. The miso soup could have used a bit more seasoning, but I still enjoyed it. Although the decor isn't the primary focus of the dining experience, I must say it was quite beautiful, featuring dark wood accents, paper lanterns, and red faux leather seat cushions.
However, I do need to point out one concern. We arrived at noon, right when the restaurant opened, and it was clear that they had just mopped the floors. While it's good to know they keep the place clean, mopping should happen well before opening time. The floors were extremely slippery, creating a serious risk of slips and falls—there wasn’t even a wet floor sign. Additionally, there was a strong smell of cleaning chemicals that made me feel a bit dizzy.
The spicy scallop hand roll was straightforward but could have benefited from some avocado or cucumber. On the plus side, the scallops were substantial—not the tiny kind—and had just the right amount of zest. I can eat a lot of sushi, but those three rolls were more than enough; the portions were generous, with plenty of fish and just the right amount of rice. I definitely plan on returning. **Note:** This appears to be an older review that I never posted; it's my first here. Unfortunately, my fourth visit on Monday didn't go as smoothly, despite the food still being good. There were mix-ups with the Groupon specials, and the manager ended up lecturing us after stating they would give us a heads-up for the fifth time, which felt unnecessary since it was clearly a server error that we had already understood. To top it off, our to-go order of green curry was messed up again. The manager promised a free order of curry next time, which is great since it is really delicious—even though they forgot the chicken in the last order. I’ll give it one more chance because I genuinely enjoy the food.
I am traveling for business and was in the mood for Asian flavors. Dao let me double dip, with a very flavorful spicy scallop roll and then a very delicious Shrimp Pad Thai. Service was good, it was a slow night and I ate in the bar area, it is well stocked and on my next visit (yes, I will be back) I will check the skills of the bartender.
I had high expectations coming here and was disappointed. I've been wanting to eat sushi for a couple of weeks so decided to come here as I was in the area. I ordered a rainbow roll, as I order this one almost everywhere I go. I also tried the Osaka maki roll. Both of these were made loose. If I grabbed them too tight with my chop sticks, the insides would come out, but I had to as they weren't tight to begin with. Some pieces were too big and as I took a bite, the rest of the piece would fall apart. Fail. My husband had the beef teriyaki. He did get a big bowl of rice! Beef was good. Teriyaki sauce was not so overpowering. Service was good, other than getting my entree 5 minutes before my husband's entree. Not sure why they did that. Not sure that I would come back. :
