El Chavis Taquizas - Oak Lawn

A fly flew in our tortilla chips. The server stuck his hand in it, tried to grab it, and was going to leave the chips there. We had to ask for a new one!! Now, just imagine if we didn't see him nasty little server

Decor is bright and lovely, they have an extensive and very authentic variety of traditional mexican dishes, flavored and prepared to delicious perfection. My wife had a torta al pastor. I had three tacos, which were a taco al pastor, a taco de lengua (both topped with diced cilantro and white onion), and the restaurant chain special taco, the taco el chavis, which is carne asada, chorizo, and pinto beans (this is the taco in the picture I provided).Kid-friendliness: There also is a nice selection of ice cream and paletas for kids (and adults) to choose from.

I threw a surprise party for my mother on June 29th, 2023 and we had beef tacos, chicken tacos along with corn, rice and beans with various salsa's. 24 hours after the party we had approximately 15 who became sick with violent diarrhea, stomach cramps and nausea. Thank God no one had to go to the hospital. It lasted about a day. We narrowed it down to the rice and beans cause everyone who did not eat the rice and beans was ok but the people who did eat the beans and rice got very sick. When I spoke to Salvador who is the one in charge of the catering he basically said to sue him and he did not want to reimburse us for anything. He stated that he has insurance and to sue him. He refused to give me the number of his insurance company and basically did not care that his restaurant could have killed people with food poisening. Very disappointed. The tacos did taste good though. There food truck was a really dirty creepy white van that was unsightly at the party. I even tipped the cook 100 dollars just to be a blessing. If I were you I would not eat here or do catering here. My mother's birthday was ruined by her getting food poisening a day later.

Cozy place with excellent service! Tacos are not only authentic, but delicious!

Ordered take out.One waitress/ one cook for all dine in/take out/GrubHub/door dash orders.Service wasn't terrible/just slow based on understaffing* chicken flautas-Chicken was overcooked and dry, so orange that it looked liked a giant flamin hot Cheeto. The avocado on top was brown from sitting too long. We live 2 blocks away and the flautas were soggy by the time we drove home* chicken fajitas- same issue... Dry as a bone.At first glance when we opened our dinner we both thought it was going to be too salty, but it had no flavor.Hard no for me... waste of $45.00
