We ate at the Smoke and Oak Bistro in June of 2015. The chef at the time started talking to us in the winery and we decided to stay for lunch after he described some of his menu items. We had an enjoyable lunch and the food was good. This year we asked about the chef and were told that he was no longer there, that they had decided to go in a "different direction." We decided to try the food again. Well, unfortunately in this case the "different direction" means downhill. I had the St. Louis Back Ribs with Tequila Slaw, black bean salad and cornbread muffin. The ribs had very little meat and were dry and chewy on one side and moist on the other. Ribs are not supposed to be like jerky. I had excellent ribs the week before in an Atlanta Airport hotel. They smoked their own ribs and they were meaty, tender and flavorful like ribs are supposed to be. The slaw was bland, the black bean salad was little more than black beans and again lacked flavor. The cornbread muffin was overbaked making it dry. The other order was for a Wild Boar Burger. The meat had little flavor and was not moist. The potato salad was boring and could have at least been seasoned with salt and pepper. We would not go back here again, the best part of the meal was the wine which we can buy in the winery.
This is only the Intermezzo eats cause we missed out on lunch times but it still was surprisingly good.
This is probably one of the most wonderful restaurant/wine experiences that I have had to date! The service, the ambiance, the wine and the food were all
Not a lot of choice in the menuA bit expensive for what you get, but the food is pretty good. Had the brisket burger and it was too salty.
