Írjon visszajelzéstThis used to be our favourite chippy in Oldham. Sadly the owner (who is a cheeky chappy in a good way and he always welcomes you) and the staff mainly have let the standards drop so much I think this will be our last visit here, unless I hear things have changed. Award winning chippy sadly resembles a back street dirty living off the old reputation it once had as the best chippy in Oldham. The portions are measly to say the least, they have decreased drastically whilst prices have gone up. The staff are not as welcoming as they used to be, rather grumpy and you get certain looks. I was in there and they were giving judgemental looks to each other whilst pointing out certain customers waiting in shop for their chippy. They don’t wash their hands after handling cash nor wear gloves. Hygiene levels are so bad. I watched as a customer paid in coins and the lady counted it all out on the worktop then popped it in till then went straight to handle food. All this whilst another coughed into the back of her hand and then continued to handle food into a container for a waiting customer. I was shocked. I waited until my order was going to get packed and I was ready to ask them to wash their hands before packing mine but Peter (owner) stepped in and did mine whilst we chatted about footy and he was clean. Cross contamination at this place is rife and sadly I will not be coming back here until things improve. Shame as I am sure it can be a great chippy once again but only if things change.
I love this chippy... Rag pudding, chips, gravy and mushy peas now that is amazing. I'd say it is reasonably priced for the quality and fantastic service! Even Asians order food from here which is great to see :
After 25 years of providing traditional British fish and chips, this beloved restaurant has unfortunately closed due to rising costs. I will always fondly remember their delicious gravy and perfectly mushy peas, always accompanied by a tasty rag pudding. The restaurant closed its doors in April 2023. Whoever decides to reopen this place will need to be the Pep Guardiola of chippies.
I can't find any fault with the food at this restaurant. The portions are excellent and the quality is fantastic. You definitely get what you pay for, and I was more than satisfied with my meal.
This fish and chip shop is operated by a man who has no manners whatsoever. I used to like their food, but I will never go back unless it's to give the owner a piece of my mind. He is rude, racist, and needs to be taught a lesson. It's a shame because the other staff members are good people. Also, where do you source your fish from? The prices are so high that if I ate there for a week, I could afford to buy a boat and hire a crew. This feels like extortion to me.
