East Cafe - Omaha

Eaten at east cafe before in glorietta in rustans several times. This one here in rustans at Shang ri la mall Edsa not quite as good. I’ve had the ramen and pad Thai before here, both were decent. I had the tonkatsu... yeah, edible but should be a whole lot better...as in not tasting dry and processed or fresh out of the microwave. I mean if this were a tinder profile, pretty sure you’d be swiping left... unless you were really ‘hungry’. Okay food, decent service... but pass on the katsu, IMO .

Hidden inside Rustan’s department store, East Cafe offers different Asian cuisines. Only a few people might know this place as there are only two tables occupied during lunch. We got the Kani Salad for appetizer and to be honest, this is the best one we ordered. I actually wanted to get a second serving because I enjoyed it so much. But the rest of the dishes were mostly bland. Even the peanut sauce of the chicken satay wasn’t enough.

Had a good coffee and kani salad here. Americano is full bodied and good. The Kani Salad was good too with cucumber, carrot and lettuce with shredded crab stick on top in a light vinegar based dressing. Just right for a healthy snack in the midst of shopping.

Final meeting for the day and a place I have not been to before. A very very peaceful area for a meeting within the heart of Rustan's Ladies Accessories, so it was a great choice with my client. As we just had drinks for this visit and as I have had many variations of coffee today, I ended up having something a little healthier a Viniferia Grape Shake and a healthy yet simple Banana Fruit Platter. Basically the platter was simply 2 banana chopped thinly and the grape shake just had a little to much sugar. : Again another place to come again, look forward to and try their main meals.

Hidden inside Rustan's EDSA Shangrila, East Cafe offers different Asian dishes from sushi to Pad Thai to pork shrimp wontons. This could be the best place for tired husbands to just chill and get something to eat and drink while waiting for their shopaholic wives to make up their minds on which hand bag or blouse to get. The pork shrimp wontons (siomai), California maki, Asian noodles and chicken quesadilla were ok and ordinary.
