Southern State Of Mind - Ormond Beach

I enjoyed a great meal from a food truck that offers a fantastic selection of Southern comfort food. The thigh-high chicken sandwich is a standout, featuring a toasted buttery bun, perfectly grilled chicken, grits, jalapeños, cheese, pickled red onions, and slaw. The grits are incredible on their own! While I wasn’t a huge fan of the spices in the slaw by itself, it paired perfectly with the rest of the sandwich. I also tried their peach cobbler, which was a delightful light dessert. I'm excited to come back and try the shrimp and grits and pulled pork next time!

I tried it today, and honestly, it was below average. The meat was dry, and the bread tasted like it came from Walmart. If you're really hungry and it's your only option, it might be okay, but it definitely isn't worth the price.

I sampled several dishes, including "The Hot Mess," nachos, and smoked Gouda mac and cheese. Even though I don't eat pulled pork, my coworker raved about it. The pulled brisket nachos and pulled brisket grits were absolutely to die for, topped with barbecue sauce and delectable toppings. The owner shared that the meats are marinated for 26 hours, which surely adds to the flavor! I love supporting local food trucks, and this spot really satisfied my craving for tasty Southern BBQ. I’ll definitely be back for more!
