We did order the mussels and they were OK. We asked them if they could make a martini, and were surprised to be told that martinis are never made at this restaurant. So we asked for a glass of vodka and got the smallest quantity that I have ever seen for approximately $10. It was literally a tablespoon of vodka. Wines by the glass were OK, but naturally expensive. The bread seemed like it was a day old.
Location-wise, the place is located a stone throw away from a pier, which is fairly convenient if you just came off a boat and is easily reachable from the city centre as well. It definitely has an atmosphere and a character, with walls featuring various pictures, portraits and various objects hanging from the ceiling; I found the place terribly expensive, portions are not overly big, although the food was fantastic. However, if you find mains too expensive, you can opt for a starter, as some of them are just a smaller sized version of the main dish, such as seafood soup.
The one star is for our waiter who was quite nice and friendly (so nice and friendly we felt compelled to lie to him about what we thought of the food). This was our first food stop in Oslo. We got the buttered Hake, burger, and asparagus something. Buttered hake: the fish was under seasoned, it was on a bed of bland mashed carrots, there was also some salmon roe, some quinoa? And yet despite the blandness it tasted really weird together. Burger: there was a beef patty but on top of it was a piece of tough pork smothered in too sweet BBQ sauce (I think they wanted to make a BBQ pulled pork but had no idea what it's supposed to taste like) and on the bottom there was chopped up Kim-Chi. So weird, these kind of bad flavors don't go together at all. Also the fries sucked. Asparagus something: I don't remember what it's actually called or what it was supposed to be but we got this weird bland green pudding thing that mildly tasted of asparagus with asparagus shavings on top and salmon roe. It was so weird and frightening that I had to take a picture of it; I don't think it's supposed to be food. Also this place is super expensive for the bizarre food they serve. Oh and ALSO ppl are smoking all around you if you're sitting outside.
Tasty dishes ordered with Vipps! On the outer tables you can order what you want from your phone. The first drinks took some time to receive, but after the food and beverages came quickly after ordering. The entrecôte beef had great flavor and was cooked perfectly! Otherwise great staff and we could enjoy our meal in beautiful surroundings!
Really nice Scandinavian food, decently priced for Oslo. Great the fish and seafood soup and the Copenhagen platter to share.
