Írjon visszajelzéstWe have visited this restaurant three times and the food keeps getting better. We enjoyed lamb curry, butter chicken and aloo saag. The spiciness was as we requested and the servings were just right for the two of us (and some to take home). Our young hostess was attentive and friendly. This is our favorite Indian restaurant in Kanata.
We attended on Mother's Day and they were set for an open buffet per person for 19 dollars.
I opted for a light lunch while others enjoyed a full dinner at this restaurant, and they surprised me with a spicy dish. The heat level was intense, but the naan was delicious. The rice was a bit dry for my liking, but the vindaloo sauce helped to balance it out.
I went for dinner on a cold Saturday evening. As it was my first visit, the character-less strip mall location didn't leave me expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in the doors at the cozy and warm ambience. My two friends and I shared an appetizer (paneer pakoras), garlic naan bread, butter chicken, beef vindaloo and rice. The food was hot, fresh, fragrant and delicious. We didn't order any drinks and with 15% tip we spent about $24 each. It was very good value for the quality of food. I have one complaint. The waitstaff, though very attentive during the ordering and food service phases, did not clear our dishes. We remained for a good hour after eating, chatting and catching up, and not one dirty dish was cleared. We eventually piled up our own dishes and pushed them to the side just so we weren't looking at them. The table next to us left around when we started eating and their dirty dishes were still there when we left. It was very bizarre. If it hadn't been for the dishes I would not hesitate to leave a 4 star review. I would go back but only because the food was so good.
Being a Friday and knowing that restaurants usually are busy, we decided to go out for lunch. As we are in the middle of winter with -10 C temperature, we thought a good curry buffet would warm us up. We decided on the Urban Turban, 591 March Road, Kanata, which had been recommended by some friends a while ago, arriving at 1140 am to beat the rush.On entering we were given a nice table in the main restaurant which was pleasantly appointed. Unfortunately our dining experience was disappointing by issue that need not occur. Picking up our plates which were stone cold, we went through the buffet line selecting butter chicken, rice, tandoori chicken and a few poppadum’s. The food was very flavourful but also stone cold, which made the dining experience very negative. The service was also lacking, we had to keep on asking for things e.g. extra napkins – told they were at the buffet table, requesting water, again long delays. There is no excuse for the plates and meal to be cold, they need to buy a plate warmer and heat up the Buffet serving table at least an hour before opening time. This restaurant has good food, but needs the staff and management to address the basics problems of service and cold food.
