The restaurant was nice, but perhaps we arrived late as there were only a few customers. Food was not quite authentic malay or Asian and was average.

Best food in Ottawa! Delicious curries and authentic Malaysian spices. Friendly owners and excellent value! My goto for many many years..!I do miss the Chai pulling at the table though. Highly recommended ?

The spiciest restaurant in Ottawa if you order their three stars dishes. The aromas out of the kitchen are wonderful and everything is authentic and cooked with love. No wonder they've been opened since 1985. The service is also very friendly.

I'm Singaporean and my partner is Malaysian. We reside in Montreal and came to Ottawa for a weekend trip, and popped by Chahaya for a late lunch. We had the beef rendang, soto ayam, stir-fried vegetables, goreng pisang, teh tarik. The food is authentic and we enjoyed this taste of home so much! The restaurant lady boss and waiter both provided great service, and we will definitely visit again.

Exceptional service and great food!The staff were very friendly and helpful, although they gave us the wrong type of rice their attentive eyes spotted the mistake and quickly gave us what we ordered with no extra charge. They were very honest with the portions, making sure we did not over order, and basically had our best interests in mind.I got the Beef Rendang and it had three stars, and it was absolutely perfect for me, very nice numby and burning sensation, and pretty worth for the quality of food. For most people, I would recommend the singular or two star symbols because my friends thought it was too spicy.The ice kacang is very unique and delightful, the exact type of dessert I would want after a spicy dinner, its similar to shaved ice but in a different style, if you have extra room in your stomache Id definetely grab one to share.My only complaint is that there aren 't any pictures on the menu to see what I would be ordering. Of course, they list the ingredients, but having a picture would be very helpful.Also, I would suggest you reserve a table because they were fully booked and we were lucky enough to land a spot because a table had just finished.I definitely recommend this spot, and I 'll most likely come back again if I am in the area!
