The place was busy but there was no clear line up to place an order. Finally once I got to place my order my cashier wasn't the friendliest , nor were the people In the back who I picked the bagel up from. The bagel was good but service was just ok
Great all around for dinein or takeaway. Staff friendly and food is well made. Can be a little expensive, but worth the extras. Chocolate Chip cookies were surprisingly tasty as was the No Bun/Bread wrap (in lettuce). Good luck and enjoy!
We stopped here on a weekday for lunch around 1:30 pm. This was our first time in Canada going to a Panera Bread. Some of this may have been my fault but I was not completely clear on the Pick 2 option. I thought you took 2 items for the price listed. A half salad was around $8 so I thought that was the price for the pick 2. I asked the cashier on ordering 3 times what exactly Pick 2 was and she just kept listing out all the items you could get for Pick 2. she never explained that the salad was $8, then the soup was $5 then the drink was extra and so on, so on. In the end, our lunch for 2 cost $30. Our cashier appeared to be bored with us since as she was talking, she never actually looked us in the eye, instead she was scanning the room. I ordered the chicken noodle soup which I found to be very salty and the new chicken lime salad had too much avocado and tortilla strips. The chicken pieces were very hard so I was not sure if the chicken was under cooked or all I got was chicken multi byproducts pieces. My husband took the chicken Cesar and he was happy with it. All in all, for our first experience at this restaurant in Canada, we were not impressed and we found it to be too expensive for what we got. Very disappointing.
This review is NOT specifically about the Panera Bread in Ottawa - it is about the CORPORATE wide decision to reduce the quality of various products while retaining the price = increased corporate profits for Panera Bread. This cheapening has been verified by me in the USA this week of April 22, 2017.On April 12, 2017 - I observed the decline in the quality of two (2) specific items in the Panera Bread product offering - the cherry cheese danish and the breakfast souffle. Our family will no longer patronize Panera Bread.Note, this is another example of the corporate trend to reduce the quality of products in restaurants, cruise lines, food stores across north america while retaining the price or raising the price thus allowing the corporate entity to increase profits. I have observed this trend for approximately 2.5 years. I fire every single restaurant (various), cruise line (Celebrity) and food store (Loblaws and Farm Boy in Ottawa) when I observe this trend. These two (2) items have been downgraded by the decision to use industrial puff pastry instead of the previous yeast dough and egg ingredients. The previous outstanding cherry danish is now labelled "new recipe" which consists of a size reduction of about 25%, elimination of the previous great lemon glaze, use of industrial puff pastry in stead of yeast dough and the use of cheaper cherry filling with a revolting red/pink colour. A serious decline. The previous breakfast souffle used to be entirely egg, cheese, bacon baked in a muffin tin. Now it is 1/2 industrial puff pastry with a bit of egg and a strip of bacon. A very big change. Many consumers note these changes - you are not able to hide Panera Bread.Shame on you for this very overt cheapening of your once great product.
