Rideau Bar & Grill - Ottawa

This restaurant is a great spot to have a quick meal before catching your flight from Ottawa airport (YOW).

The staff at the restaurant was extremely unfriendly.

During a layover at YOW, I met up with my cousin for a meal. We split a plate of nachos and each had a glass of wine. The nachos were average and nothing special. However, the most memorable aspect of our dining experience was the sour attitude of our server. Although she wasn't particularly rude to us, she had a constant frown on her face. The service was incredibly slow, despite the fact that we were the only table in the restaurant for part of our visit. It seemed clear that she disliked her job, and as a result, her customers. Some individuals are simply not suited for customer service roles.

Ate here pre-security when flying out of Ottawa. Food was good; fairly standard fare for a grill of this style but compared to many airport restaurants it stood out. Service was quick and staff friendly, very relaxing when prepping for a flight.

We arrived a bit early for our flight and the airline agent suggested waiting a bit before going through security as the line would clear in 45 minutes or so. We found a very pleasant bar just above the escalator to head down to security. We had a great table with a good view of the air field. We both had the cheese burgers made with brie rather than cheddar. Tasty and very substantial! I had wine while my husband had a beer. The service was a bit curt but prompt. We finished the meal and breezed through security!
