The Trout Inn - Oxford

Beautiful setting, but off hand service, badly organised and very expensive beer. What a shame.

We went to the Trout Inn for lunch recently and it turned out to be an ideal venue for a mid-week celebratory lunch. The atmosphere is lovely, river setting, stone floors, open fires really excellent. It probably does get really busy in the summer or on weekends but there is plenty of outdoor seating and there are really so few places where you can sit and have a drink on the riverside.The food was delicious and the service excellent. I can thoroughly recommend the Trout Inn.

This must be one of the most popular pubs in Oxfordshire's countryside and you can see why. They do simple pub food very well. Delicious range of pub classics served in a prime location, right next to the river. He only issue I have is the wait because of its popularity you kind of expect this but it's worth it you won't regret going.

A friend of mine recommended this place when i asked for somewhere in Oxford to meet a very good friend of mine. We met here around and had a coffee, small touches like a biscuit with the coffee went down well you can only really get here by car (unless you're local). There's a big car park so thats fine.Once parked up there are walks along the river you can go on from here.The pub itself it just beautifully decorated, very cosy. You absolutely HAVE to without question book here if you come on the weekend. Even then you'll be lucky.The menu is really well created, lots of choices and service is very good too... The food when it arrived was well presented and extremely tasty. Couldn't fault anything.This would be a perfect place for a birthday, mothers day, fathers day, anniversary.Best part is outside. There's a kind of waterfall outside, lots of heated outdoor seating. Its really just picturesque.Now if you are lucky you might see the resident peacock! there are a couple that hang around. Try looking on the building on in the gardens at the back.I have since recommended people to go here when they visit Oxford, and they all come back with glowing reviews.Apparently CS Lewis used to meet friends here!

We met some friends in the trout and had a table in the restaurant. our waitress caitlin f was super, very friendly attentive and interested. she seemed to manage the whole restaurant only and alone. that was a bit dirty, but we had a nice night.
