General Chow - Oxnard

Great food and reasonable prices for quality. Noodles are made by hand, not bought. The staff is standing around while other workers need help or a break. Overall good restaurant but needs improvement with staff and music must be shut off while people try to enjoy their meal.

As for the food, opinions vary. While I agree with some reviews that a few dishes were somewhat bland, we did find several items bursting with flavor. The pork and kimchi dumplings, in particular, had a delightful kick and hit all the right notes. The Pad Thai was also quite tasty and did not disappoint. We sampled four different dumpling varieties; the broth dumplings were especially good and were a hit with the kids. The others, however, didn't leave a lasting impression. The roasted chicken and rice were also noteworthy. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by General Chow and will definitely be looking forward to another visit to explore more of their menu.

The service was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, though some dishes could be served hotter, particularly the dumplings. For larger groups, it would be helpful to have a lazy Susan on the large round tables to make sharing family-style dishes easier.

They serve family style, which is always fun, the food is decent, but I was angry with their online order. When I tried to tell them there was a problem that they argued with me until they finally realized that it was really a problem with their online ordering system. I HATE if they argue with the customer! Especially if it doesn't deserve, I just wanted to help. I wanted to order online. Now I'm not going back to EVER because this is an example of their customer service. They blamed me that I probably didn't use the site instead of talking to them and seeing them in them that it wasn't me at all! Bad customer service. Bad.

I've never felt the need to write a restaurant review until now. Last Friday, a group of nine of us visited this place to celebrate a special occasion. The food was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable—it came to $250 for all of us, including drinks and appetizers. However, what truly stood out was the service. Our server, Jake, was consistently polite, quick, and attentive. He handled everything perfectly. I even asked him to bring the manager over so I could express my appreciation, and I was surprised to learn that it was Jake's first job in the service industry. It’s hard to believe—he was truly professional. I highly recommend this restaurant, and we will definitely return soon.
