This restaurant has attracted a loyal and faithful following of locals for decades. My husband used to come here when he was 18 with his friends. Run by the delightful owner who originated from Italy, this restaurant, on two levels, consistently offers fresh and delicious fare, with a regularly changing small menu providing something for every palette. Don't expect fawning waiters, they are busy. The restaurant is traditional in both its décor and cuisine, but this is what sets it apart in a city which is trying to be ultra modern often without success because the essentials are being forgotten. As a regular restaurant goer around the world, Darcy's stands up very well against any competition.
I have been driving past this restaurant with the closed blinds for years, always wondering what was inside. Finally, I went there for a girls' dinner, albeit early at 6pm due to my friend's new baby. We were the first and only ones there for quite some time, so the personal service we received may have been out of the ordinary. The head waiter, in his bow tie, was delightful. Initially, it seemed like an older crowd, but as more people arrived and those without reservations were turned away, we realized that this was a popular spot. We enjoyed a delicious plate of Balmain bugs and the creme brûlée dessert was fantastic. I tried to keep it a secret from my husband, who is lactose intolerant and not supposed to eat it, but my friend couldn't resist telling him about it when we got home because it was just so good. We will definitely be returning so that he can try it as well. I highly recommend this restaurant.
What a culinary experience!!! Have heard of Darcy's for years and due to its huge reputation had built high expectation. It passed with flying colors. Great location, service....and beautiful food. All around great experience Will definately be back.
Dined there for the first time with my wife on my birthday. Lucky for me my wife volunteered to drive as I had a superb $140 Chardonnay all by myself(it was a big b'day) with an excellent menu and top shelf service. Our waiter was professional and unobtrusive and apparently had been there for 30 yrs or more...great charm and food.Had driven past for years and had never tried it...glad we did.
