The Boathouse - Paignton

This restaurant is a great place to relax and enjoy trendy decor with generous portion sizes of food. The menu mainly consists of pizza, burgers, fish, and other similar dishes. It is independently owned and operated, and is consistently busy throughout the year. It used to be a run-down beach side cafe, but has undergone a remarkable transformation. During peak times, there may be a long wait for food, so it's not the best option if you're in a hurry. However, it's a perfect spot to socialize, drink, and soak up the sunny afternoons or relaxed evenings. The food will be served when it's ready, so it's best not to rush. Currently, they offer an all-you-can-eat pizza and pasta buffet on Mondays and Tuesdays, which we tried last night. The pizza was fantastic, better than anything you could find at Pizza Hut, and the homemade pasta bakes were delicious. The cost is only £5.00 per person. The only improvement could be the addition of basic salad items, which currently come at an extra charge. Also, be cautious of the serving gear, as it can get very hot under the lights.

The restaurant is rated 4 stars, which is really good, as it has to be exceptional to receive 5 stars. Despite its unassuming exterior, do not let that deter you; we were also unsure if they were open but it is worth walking through the closed outside door or sitting on the terrace. The food is cooked well - Dawn ordered lasagne and I had fish and chips, both dishes were very good. The Boathouse is located near numerous accommodations, making it convenient to visit. After our meal, we enjoyed taking a stroll along the beach, which was a nice way to end the evening.
