Írjon visszajelzéstLast month, we visited Palakkad for the first time. It is a lovely place to visit. We had only heard of Aishwarya Mess and decided to try it out. The dishes made with pure ghee were excellent, especially the maaladu which was beyond comparison.
So if you visit after a long stay or for the village auto festival in palakkad, this is an excellent place to have bajji, bonda, wadai with non-water chutney. very cheap at kucks a piece. very close to all the famous tempel, who like a...visit if they like fried things. he also sells appalams, pappadams, mixtures and other sweets.
I discovered this gem of a restaurant that exceeded my expectations and quickly became a regular visitor. It is truly the best in its class.
We visit Palakkad twice a year and always make sure to visit Aishwarya Home Mess at least once during our stay. Aishwarya is a small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant that serves traditional South Indian Brahmin snacks and sweets. This standing-room-only eatery, located about a year ago in Kalpathy Agraharam, just meters away from the temple, is incredibly popular. It is run by the tall and friendly Guru and the always-smiling Narayanan. Aishwarya opens in the afternoon, serving traditional snacks like mor appam, sevai, raw banana bhajji, bonda, poori masal, chili bhajji, dal vada, medu vada, elai adai with jackfruit, jangri, mysorepak, and rava ladoo. What sets Aishwarya apart is their commitment to making traditional and forgotten items like mor appam and elai adai with authentic flavors. Their filter coffee is also excellent. A few years ago, they started serving breakfast as well, opening in the early afternoon. Aishwarya's popularity has even been recognized in a national newspaper like The Hindu, highlighting this wonderful place.
Aishwarya Home Mess is quite literally a small hole-in-the-wall eatery, dishing out the most exotic and almost forgotten Palakkaad Brahmin snacks. Started in the by, this unique eatery is now run by the tall and lanky Mr.Guru (his father had started the place) and...the affable Mr.Narayanan. It is located in New Kalpathy Agraharam a notified Heritage Site. This place opens it's shutters at pm (Mon to Sat) with a whole range of delicacies on display. Rare and exotic item like Mor Appam and the jackfruit laced Elai Adai are Aishwarya's specialities. So also are the round chilli bhajji, dal vadas, sevai, raw banana bhajji and bondas. Their range of sweets like jangri, nai appam and mysorepak are not to be missed. They also serve the finest filter coffee the way you like it. Aishwarya is so popular with the residents of Kalpathy agraharam that most of the goodies get lapped up within minutes of preparation. A couple of years back, this eatery used to open for breakfast too, but they have discontinued the morning service. We are regular visitors to Palakkad (from Mumbai) and know the city and all it's vegetarian eateries very well. Given this background, I can say with all confidence that there is none like Aishwarya. Not in Palakkad and not anywhere in the world. No wonder that a prestigious publication like THE HINDU has written about this wonder eatery a couple of years back Aug
