Red Lantern Chinese Restaurant

Called up and ordered take away for dinner. We ordered 3 very simple meals. I was told on the phone that they can't tell me when it would be ready and to come in to pick it up in an hour. I went in over an hour later and paid for it and the workers then told me it will still be a 30 minute wait... The restaurant is empty and only a few other waiting for take away orders!! There customer service was very rude and very uninviting!! Will not be coming back here again would rather drive to the city to get Chinese next time!!

The sauce on the lemon chicken was quite nice......not memorable but nice. That's about all we can say that is positive in our experience. The 3 waitresses who had a go at serving us were dreadful and kept repeating the order to us. We were given water on arrival but never offered any other drinks or dessert.The sesame toasts was a deepfried skinny prawn sandwich which still had the crusts on. The little chicken spring rolls had the thickest batter rolled around them. The lemon chicken was soggy and tough as though it has been fried twice and none of our food was actually hot although the restaurant was half empty.The seafood and veg was bland and full of onion. The fried rice was totally lacking in flavour. If this restaurant was in any other city they would be out of business in weeks.We counted 3 tiny prawns in the fried rice. All at a premium price. Would I go back? Never.

Being Asian myself, I am extremely critical when dining at an Asian restaurant.But I have never had a bad experience at Red Lantern and I've been a customer for 3 years.Their food is delicious and authentic. I'm a fiend for their fried rice with chicken and salty fish, it makes my heart sing! Keep up the great work.

About 12 of us went for dinner, service was good, food was good but I give 3 stars because the place is quite run down and needs a lot of attention. The deal breaker for me though is restaurants that are too lazy to split bills and make the customer work it out. It was a quiet night and I witnessed one other group not eat here and left when told this. Clean the place up a bit (loose the plastic cups from Kmart) and it will be much better..... And split your customers bills.

Nice friendly location with good food. Serving sizes are good and the kids always ask to go there rather than any other Chinese restaurant.
