Lou's Diner - Perry

Had Lunch with Son and Grandson, food was great and service was super, all with great conversation and home feel.

We visited many times, but the food is so good we eat and forget to take photos. Today I remembered!! Lou's Diner in Perry is so delicious!! I pictured the 6 ounces of Sirloin eggs, toast and chose hashbrowns instead of the huge pancake below. My husband got 3 eggs, hashbrowns, toast and bacon and his daughter got a complete order of cookies and gravy on the hashbrowns. None of us could finish our meals, but they were delicious!! Every time we go the service is friendly and personal. They treat us like friends / family not only customers. Homestyle cooking, generous portions and great prices. We love Jalous Diner!

There were four of us in total. Two of us ordered pancakes, while the other two went for BLTs. The pancakes are out of this world! They’re made with fresh blueberries and chocolate chips, and you can see them being prepared right in front of you. My friend ordered a stack of three, and it was enormous—heavy and required some real effort to tackle (check out the picture!). I opted for just one pancake, but it was honestly the best I’ve ever had. The bacon that came with my two eggs on the side was thick and perfectly crispy. The women in our group were also impressed by their BLTs and mentioned that they would happily make a 2.5-hour trip just to enjoy them again. Overall, the atmosphere was joyful and lively, with the staff joking and chatting with each other, and even sharing some tips on pancake syrup techniques! We loved hearing about the local vibe in Perry, IA. If you're driving through Iowa, this place is definitely worth a detour, even though it's not right off I-80—maybe a 20-minute drive off the highway. Support this hidden treasure; you won’t regret it!

The food was fantastic! I tried the ham and bean soup with a cornbread muffin, and it was absolutely delightful! So delicious!
