Pizzeria Capri - PERUGIA

Fabulous food with really lovely waiter and waitress, great wine recommendations from the owner who is very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Hand on heart the best pizza we have had throughout all of our travels around Italy.

I visit Perugia regularly with this place is by far the best Pizzeria in town. It has a massive wood fired oven that makes a big difference to the taste. The staff are very friendly, can speak English and the prices are very good. You can sit outside in the summer and it is usually packed with locals and university students. The street in which it is located has a community spirit with shops, barbers, coffees bars, bars etc, and is close to the centre of town.

It is always difficult to say that a restaurant serves the best pizza as this assumes that you have tried everyone of them. So I will qualify this by saying that this restaurant has the best pizza that I have tried in Perugia and I have tried a lot. The quality of the ingredients is the deal maker. The pizza is beautifully crafted and cooked. They are generous in size and ridiculously cheap for what you get. Most are less that 10 euro. Even if they were double, it would be worth paying; that’s how good they are. It is not only h the pizzas. We tried the fritta of courgette flowers filled with mozzarella cheese, coated in batter and deep fried. Simply amazing. The wine list is good and reasonable price. The beer is very cheap- large bottle of Peroni for 3 euro!!! And the service was wonderful. The waitress helped with our choices and even though she spoke little English as we speak no Italian) she was patient. This must come from the fact that they are proud of what to do. The restaurant has a simple design; down to earth. They do not need to add elaborate décor etc; their food is their star followed by the hospitality of the staff and the owner. Great people, even greater food.

La pizza è ottima, il servizio è buono. Mangiare all'aperto in una stretta strada del centro storico è davvero piacevole!
