I then have my beer from a server like five minutes when I stuck with my food. server, are at the bar that talk to friends and forget about customers. really strange, especially because they seem to have full staff, and not that many customers. I even had to go to the table of the hostess and ask for serviettes because I didn't give one. not to mention that I have ordered two beers, different brands and both did not get cold. Finally, I was in the university city several times, and this is the first time I visited this place. but, extremely disappointed, especially considering that there are only a few minutes to walk from the sheraton hotel and the study hotel. I'm staying here almost two weeks this time, but not sure.
This place was perfect for a mid afternoon lunch when in the area. The menu has variety. I got the Cobb Salad with the addition of a crab cake. The chicken on the Cobb was done just right with a tasty coating and was tender inside. The crab cake was good, though a tad salty. I would come here again if I felt lucky nabbing a street parking spot within a one block radius. I noticed 20 percent was already added on the bill. I've been reading that in many places these days they don't want you to consider that a gratuity for the server? Well it was for us, so I hope this particular establishment rewards their wait staff.
Absolutely terrible. We went there for a Sunday brunch with our friends. All the food was cold not warm, cold and very, very salty. Cheddar grits looked like dog vomit and tasted the same. We were forced the check even before we finished eating (and the place was half empty) and then the server left all the dirty plates on the table. They add a 20% tip automatically because they know people would give them that much for this kind service quality'.
Totally out of line to decide on a forced tip. Should either be part of service or patrons choice. Sure want to avoid this trap
To be fair, the policy is posted on the front door but I didn’t see it. Enjoyed lunch, today, at this establishment. Appetizer of buffalo chicken Eggrolls was particularly delightful. We sat outside and were given very good service. Upon receiving the bill, we noticed a 20% Service charge. Basically, I am being told to tip 20%. I asked our friendly server about this. She told me that it started after Covid and it is a restaurant policy. Upon further questioning to front desk staff I was only informed that The restaurant policy is to add a 20% gratuity, without any explanation of what that policy is based upon. If I am being expected to tip 20% because diners at your establishment do not, in the eyes of either management or staff, tip sufficiently, or that management needs extra revenue to afford to pay their staff and overhead, I, as a patron, deserve to be informed of such. Further, as a lifelong member of the hospitality community, I feel that a forced gratuity creates a service atmosphere where mediocrity is the order of the day. Quite honestly, I feel it incentivizes a lackluster customer service ethic.
