Rose Tattoo Cafe - Philadelphia

We were told by phone, 45 minutes before our reservation time, that the restaurant was suddenly a BYOB. I should have taken this as a sign to change the plans. (I actually should have taken the fact that the place hasn't changed since the early 1990's as a sign, but that's on me. So, I go to Whole Foods like a champ and buy a bottle of wine. Then, I am at the bar waiting for my friend when the couple behind me orders DRINKS. Yes, and they were not told that they couldn't have them. WTF. Friend arrives just in time to distract me. Flatbread was fine. It was flat. It was bread. My shrimp pasta tasted like nothing broth. It tasted like nothing, in broth. Rose Tattoo was something back in the day. It needs to be left there.

We arrived for our reservation only to discover that the restaurant was closed. We did not receive any notification by phone or email. We have not been contacted to provide a statement or receive an apology.

I love this restaurant! Would highly recommend it as a romantic dining destination. We will definitely be coming back, as it has quickly become one of our favorite spots!

This used to be my favorite restaurant, but not anymore. I visited at 8:30 PM and felt rushed to submit my full order. I had never experienced this before. The rolls were lacking salt and the tortellini with smoked chicken had some cold pieces of chicken. The tortellini, supposed to have four cheeses, tasted like there was no cheese at all and also needed more salt. The salmon, however, was really good. I was embarrassed to recommend this place to my friend. We traveled all the way from Florida and were disappointed. They didn't even serve alcohol - maybe they lost their license? It's not the same place it used to be. I will not be returning.

As soon as the new fleet license is renewed, the rose tattoo will be what it was always a wonderful neighboring place with beautiful bars and excellent eating. the menu and the quality of the food did not change, but unfortunately, because there was no alcohol license temporarily there were no nice bottles that tasted the bar and it looked really empty. also they were on two servers and so our service was unusually slow.
