Sakura King - Plant City

I reside in Lakeland and make the trip to Sakura King because the food is simply amazing. You know my regular order, and it never fails to be perfect!

I couldn't find any images of their coconut shrimp, so I also ordered some extra egg rolls, just in case! The coconut shrimp are prepared by being crushed and fried, then topped with a creamy coconut sauce, rather than having the sauce on the side like sweet and sour dishes. The sauce is really creamy and perfectly balanced—not overly sweet. You can choose between white or fried rice; I opted for the white rice, which came in a pint-sized portion. I would have preferred a smaller portion or the option to buy extra, but that's just my preference. The shrimp were quite good, and I had already dug in before I thought to take a picture! The shrimp egg rolls were a clever addition, while the crab rangoons were pretty standard but still tasty. They also included several packets of duck sauce and soy sauce, along with a small container of sweet and sour red sauce. I still think the prices are a bit high, but the food quality was good, and the portions were satisfying—enough to leave me feeling full and with leftovers, including some rice. If you enjoy coconut shrimp, you'll likely want to savor a few more bites, even after you’re full!
