Irises Cafe And Wine - Plattsburgh

I gave it 4 stars out of 5 because of these small things? 1. For this restaurant being and looking slight upscale especially in Plattsburgh was slightly dull. The color scheme in the place was very downing. It needs a lot more color features, not justpricey paintings on the walls. Where we was sitting the carpets was super worn out like if it was the first carpet ever putinside it. 2. It had food particles on the floor. We were there a little after opening. I know for a fact we were the firstthere. Again as a reminder?? Slightly upscale restaurant, you would walk in a nice cleaned up place. I will say this on adefense for maybe the dirty floor. Maybe they are short handed and maybe couldn't do a 100% for the next day to open. 3. We didget water, but in almost any restaurant ive eaten, and ive been around so many. From the time we sat there after ordering ourfood, not 1 piece of complementary bread and butter. That would of took away from sitting there in awkwardness regardless ofgood music playing in the background. My wife had a dirty glass, not such a big issue but many others would of walked out. 4.Regardless my wife's food to her was great. My food was just ok for a 3 cheese macaroni with mixed veggies and onions in it. Itwas nice at the top but watery on the bottom. I went through half of it because I love food. I put salt in it just to turn upthe flavor. Still needed more. My wife suggested for parmesan cheese. It then turned it up 100%. Now I'm not bashing what I had,it was just bland and needed a bit more spice to it. I will suggest to ask for a side of parmesan cheese. Trust me. In all thewaitress was very nice. The cook is good but it took nearly 25 to a half hour before we got our food. Yes I will come again justto see if there's another food I will fall in love with. I'm a big time food critic and speak nothing but the truth of anyrestaurant I walk in. Until next time I hope I can be pleased for my next meal. Blessings and always much s

The food was delicious, but the service was very slow. There were only a few people there, yet we waited for the server to bring our drinks, then waited to order. We came very close to leaving, especially when we saw our server just standing around talking.Once we ordered the food came in a very timely fashion. I'm afraid they lost some future customers, as this was our first visitand I think I will have trouble convincing my husband to go back.

We came for Mothers Day Brunch. I was very excited as I've heard great things about Irises brunch, but the entire experience was so-so. As we walked up, there was a woman sauntering with her kids taking up the entire sidewalk at a snails pace so I walkedpast her to check us in with the host, which offended her so she was loudly complaining about me to her disorderly children. Thehost couldn't find our reservation so someone helped her and we were seated, where we sat without any server for 30 minutes.Finally someone noticed us and asked the host within earshot to find us a server, and eventually a server came over veryfriendly and apologetic. We were starving at this point after driving an hour and a half to get to the restaurant, so we orderedeverything at once. Some was delicious, some was so-so. The server took our drinks off the bill, which was nice of him. Mymother in law adored the server which was a saving grace. Overall unimpressed but will try again and look forward to a betterexperience because I hear great things and it was a busy day for their staff.

Portions are small. Service excellent every time. Outdoor eating loud on street and uncomfortably hot most summer nights.
