I highly recommend staying here!Rooms: Beautiful, clean updated roomsNearby activities: Jenkinsons boardwalk, beach and ridesWalkability: Walking distance to all points pleasant attractionsFood drinks: Amazing restaurant on site
The website pictures do NOT represent this Resort Spa at all. They show the main building, which is ACROSS THE STREET, however the 3 buildings on the ocean side are just typical motel rooms. The air conditioning took all night to cool the room, but once cooled was fine. The mattress was so old and awful, I did NOT sleep the 3 nights I was there. They put me on the 2nd floor which I thought would be a good view of the ocean, until I was told I had to go across the street to my room but failed to tell me there was no elevator. Had I known that, I would have asked for a ground floor room. I am a senior citizen and could barely get up the steep flight of stairs (about 20) so my luggage stayed in the car the entire time I was there. The check-in person was clueless and could use some training. She never told me where any of the amenities were and I found myself asking other guests... like where is the entrance to the beach, where is the ice machine, etc. I decided to go across the street myself to ask these questions which should have been answered upon check-in. I drove my car over because I was so hot and winded from the stairs and sweltering hot room (they could have turned on the a/c before I got there). I pulled up in front and encountered a very lovely gentleman who was working outside on the grounds. I told him I was looking for the ice machine and he saw that I was struggling, and offered to go get me the ice. on the THIRD FLOOR of the main building (no ice machines in my building across the street). I was so appreciative. He was so kind and made a point to ask me how I was doing every time he saw me outside and offered to get me whatever I needed, even down to the awful mattress. HIS NAME IS KENNETH and he is just wonderful. If it wasn 't for him, I would have left and lost several hundred dollars! My advice is DO NOT LET WEBSITE PICTURES or a fancy name fool you and if you do stay here, make SURE you ask for KENNETH who should be given the praise he so deserves!! If it wasn 't for him, I woudl have rated this place 1 star instead of 3.Rooms: Make sure you stay in the main building across the street where I would hope the rooms are better than the mediocre oceanfront motel rooms. NO ice machine. Horribly old lumpy mattress.
This is a mixed review, and let me start by stating that the staff at this place is amazing. They can 't control everything, but I have to review based on my experience and expectations.Another disclaimer, our trip was post Labor Day. So adjust at your own risk. The GOOD, the BAD, and the UGLY:The GOOD:1. The staff, the staff , the staff Everyone we encountered was attentive, empathetic, professional, and generally fun to be around.2. The air conditioning was not working. After 1 phone call to the front desk the AC unit was swapped out with a new unit within 45 minutes. I assume this might not happen in peak time.. but it did for me.3. Location wasn 't important to us but I can see how it might be during peak season4. The staff, again. If the staff wasn 't so great this would be a 2 star review. The BAD:1. The room was extremely dated. It smelled bad. The window in the bedroom opened literally into the patio of the neighbor. There was no place to plug in the coffee machine without walking it across the room.2. The Spa wasn 't able to accommodate a facial or a massage or a pedicure or a manicure because my kids were under 16. This isn 't a big deal, but this isn 't a spa.3. A $25 daily resort fee will be applied to your stay which allows you to benefit from complimentary wifi, one parking space per room, and convenient access to pool towel usage Charge me a resort fee, fine. But then don 't charge me $1.00 per game to play pool, and call your vending machine a convenience store . Wifi was useless to the point I used my cell phone as a hotspot, and thank you for the towel. Nothing about this place is at the resort level.4. The Sauna didn 't work, and the steam room only worked on my last day. When it worked it smelled so bad we couldn 't go in. I understand there are issues with equipment, so no big deal. The UGLY:1. We were so excited to book this Ocean front Resort because my wife is in a wheelchair and when we called they boasted about accessibility, even to the Lido Cafe which has ocean front views while dining on the patio. Only to find out that the lift to the cafe isn 't reliable and we haven 't used it all season so you can 't use it . I said above that I understand equipment issues, but please tell me this when I book my reservation. I would have gone elsewhere. This was one of the reasons I chose this place and paid these fees.2. The food in the Seabase Lounge was inedible. With the exception of the Burgers, Pizza, and fries, the food was really bad. Even the salad was terrible.THE SUMMARY:1. This place is dated, is not a resort ,and is way too expensive.BUT The staff make it enjoyable and fun. Without them, this place is a huge NO THANK YOU
Room was clean. Location and price made it worthwhile. It was right on the quiet end of the beach, yet just a few steps from all the fun on the boardwalk. We definitely plan to go back next summer!
The resort itself was nice, pools were clean. The resort gym however needs a renovation with some new equipment. No issues with the rooms aside from a bathroom upgrade. Staff was very accommodating. If I visit Point Pleasant in the future, I would definitely come back.
