A block away...Golden Ox was grilling their fabulous chicken burgers...so I U-turned right into the parking lot...after one! Know that feeling when something just 'hits-the-spot? The Manager, Maria, (beautiful and charming) is part of this 'family owned ' restaurant...(which shows in the end product)...they care more. It 's simply delicious food. They employ enough people to take care of the customer 's needs...all in company 'T 's ' and smiles that greet you. The thick cut pieces of chicken are marinated in her Uncle 's special recipe...then grilled to mouth-watering perfection. The smell is what drew me there. I ordered a chicken salad...fresh, crisp lettuce (at 3:00 in the afternoon)...for my daughter...to learn they even make the Thousand Island and Ranch Dressings from scratch (Uncle 's recipe). Singular location (other locations aren 't the same owner)...wish there were many, many more. On my top 10 Lunch Spots!
Great place. Not as good as the original, the original was nostalgic and homemade. but, cheapskates wont rebuild the place so now we come here. hopefully same owners as the original bc years ago, this '#2 ' was totally #2. so bad we wouldn 't eat here. noticed upgrades and clean.
Here in Pomona we have two Golden Oxs'. I've been going to them since the late seventies and for the most part it was well worth it. The restaurant on mission ave.had small TVs' on some of the tables. For twenty-five cents you could watch tv for five minutes. Black and white of course. The food was good and the prices were very fair. The pastrami combo is the best.
I have tried most of their menu but their chili cheese fries are the best. Much better than the corporate burger places. If you want an old fashioned char grilled burger, stop by here. You won't be disappointed.
Never had a problem with the food which is always great. They also serve breakfast all day.
