China Star - Pompano Beach

I have lived in eight cities and this is the best Chinese delivery I have found so far. The delivery was fast, the meat on the PuPu plate was tender and not overcooked to a hard gun. The food was not excessively oily and had a very fresh taste. I hope they stay in business for a long time because most places like this will be successful and then the next time you order, they are “under new administration” and the food is terrible.

I was in the mood for some Chinese food and decided to try this place after reading the reviews. We ordered the Shrimp Egg Foo Young, which was excellent; the sauce was light and very flavorful. We also had the Sweet and Sour Shrimp, made with large shrimp and lightly fried to perfection. However, I found the wrappers on the egg rolls and fried dumplings to be thicker than what I personally prefer, so I probably wouldn't order them again. The biggest letdown, though, was the cold sesame noodles. They really need to work on that dish—it tasted like they simply took hot noodles and mixed in peanut butter. Thankfully, I managed to salvage it by adding a quick sauce of my own.

The $3.00 delivery fee doesn't go to the driver, so please remember to tip them. There's also a $0.50 charge for bags, and I've noticed that the wonton soup containers for lunch have gotten smaller. However, the food is just as good as always.

This family-owned restaurant serves the best Chinese cuisine in Pompano. The staff is friendly, and the restaurant is very clean. There's an open kitchen, so you can watch the cooks in action. They offer delivery within a 5-mile radius, but currently only for takeout and delivery due to the restrictions. Their top dishes include egg foo young, pork fried rice, and wings.
