Írjon visszajelzéstI have 2 DDog 4 40 years. Great food and people. Variety of food. Curly Cue Fritten are excellent! Good burgers and drinks. You have a drive-up window now.
Gotten much better. Ate here once about 4 yrs ago. Was not impressed. Onion rings where cooked in old deep fryer oil and burnt. A friend offered to buy last weekend, so I gave them a second chance. Glad I did. Doublebacon cheese burger was great. Onion rings where prefect !! The one con I have is that they don't serve coke.. lol
They are always friendly and have fast service and hot and ready food everytime we order here, keep up the great service!
Another Local Legend. I had never been to Ponca City when an acquaintance told me that I should try the Dixie Dog out when I visited. Her mom and dad had gone there on their first date many years before. I was not disappointed. The site looks like a spruced up version of the old-school (not Sonic drive in restaurant. The building retains its form but was skinned with a metal exterior that will last for the many years that I hope this place is around. You can order from and eat in your car or use one of the picnic tables that flank the building. If you are taking it home, there is a convenient drive-thru window. When you arrive, you will receive a visit from a carhop. I know it sounds picky to complain about prompt service, but sometimes they are at your window before you have a chance to peruse the menu. They do, however, wait patiently while you decide. The Dixie Dog is their claim to greatness. It is a large (probably 1/4 lb. weiner that THEY have dipped in the batter, not some factory that freezes, boxes, and ships them to other restaurants. The batter is always crisp and has a slight sweet taste to it. They also use the same batter to make my favorite menu item; the Dixie Jack. I love fried cheese and the Jack doesn't disappoint. It is a chunk of pepper jack cheese dipped and fried and brought out hot. At just $1.19 it is a delicious bargain. Don't forget to finish your meal with a fried Snickers done in the same fashion and dusted with powdered sugar. Other fried favorites are the Mac Cheese bites, fried pickles, jalapeno bottlecaps, munchers (tater tots infused with cheese , and cheese sticks just to name a few. They also have french fries, tots, and onion rings to suit your preference. You can also get shrimp and chicken dinners as well as chicken and steak sandwhiches and even coneys. I do have to be critical of the burgers. Don't get me wrong. They are good, but not as good as they could be. They don't seem to be hand shaped and quite possibly may be frozen. They make good variations on the burger such as BBQ, fried onion, bacon double, and chili-cheese. These all go well paired with one of their shakes. There are many more menu items that I didn't touch on, but are pretty good. Everything on the menu is reasonably priced and, with daily specials, it is one of the more affordable dining options in Ponca City. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
Choose Dixie Dog, instead of .... Sonic, which is a block away. What caught my eye when I first rolled past Dixie was the two dozen motorcycles in the parking lot; a gathering place is always a good bet. I had, as recommended, the fried mushrooms, and can now second the recommendation. I'll be making a return trip.
