Elmasry Food Cart - Portland

So happy to have tried El Masry! Best Egyptian food in Portland! We had lamb gyros and they were delicious- soft pita bread, a generous portion of well seasoned meat, tasty tzatziki sauce with fresh vegetables. They even have great homemade hot sauce if you like to spice it up a bit! The owner Gharib is the nicest guy and was very sweet to my 3 year old daughter who loves Egypt. She can be a bit picky at times but enjoyed the lamb and rice he made for her along with some nicely cooked french fries. You feel like you are amongst family there and we enjoyed chatting with Gharib, hearing about his wife and children and enjoying great food. Would definitely recommend!

They have the best lamb plate with their signature style lamb meat grilled then and there. It taste so good and can be adjusted to all spice levels. We ordered for me and my kids and he made accordingly. Would definitely recommend this place if you love freshly grilled meat.

One of the best Middle-Eastern places to eat in town! The first time I stopped by I wasn’t expecting much but I was really surprised with how authentic and good their food is! I’m Egyptian myself and it has been almost impossible to find authentic, delicious Egyptian food in Portland until I tried AlMasry. The food is delicious with the right spice amount, the portions are generous and the prices are very affordable. I tried their Gyros, Saj and plates and I especially love the lamb beef Saj and their falafel! They make them perfect by using fava beans in the Falafel instead of chickpeas; which is the exact and only way this delicious Falafel is made in Egypt! I ran into the owner a few times and he’s very friendly and nice with a great skill of making delicious authentic Egyptian and Middle-Eastern recipes! I highly recommend giving this locally owned food cart a try! I went once and ended up going their every week or two. It’s a truly hidden gem right in Downtown Portland; and I hope their expand into more food carts or bigger restaurants in the future.

This food cart is my absolute favorite. Came here yesterday to get food and he was closed for a little bit, so I went home and made food. Was walking by today and he was open and of course I had to stop by and get a lamb fajita burrito. So freaking good
