Mabel's - Powhatan County

Went here for lunch mid-afternoon, there was only one person working upfront but it was slow business and she did a great job! We just had sandwiches to go and ice cream while we waited (yes, a little backwards, I know). The ice cream creations shakes...cups...not sure what to call them were pretty good, but ice cream is pretty good in any form. The sandwiches were pretty good as well...the cost was pretty substantial! Not a very good bargain in my opinion but I live close and will try them again I 'm sure.

We’re do I start. We were never greeted at the door. Was seated after numerous employees walked by and danced with each other behind ice cream bar. Finally seated. Another 10 mins goes by with no drink order taken. Employees noticed us just sitting there but never came over. The wife and I drove 40 mins for no service. Save your time because you never get your time back!

To start it off, there’s about 10 total tables in the restaurant maybe 15. We got seated took the waiter abt 5 min to come over and introduce herself and take our drinks then it takes about 20 min just for her to come back and get our order. About 20 min later apps came out then another 30 min later our food. We now how long everything was taking and so we ordered a SUNDAE while we were still eating. We finished eating then our sundae came in a MILLSHAKE glass. I’m sorry but if I ask for a sundae it should be in a sundae glass, like our server had brought 2 sundaes in sundae glasses over to the table beside us, there there sundae was filled to the brim. OUR SUNDAE that we paid almost $15 dollars for that came in a milkshake glass with 2 scoops of icecream and some m&ms isn’t going to cut it. This place has definitely changed from when it was at the other location, everything the food, service sucks all around. We had to call our waiter over after her looking and passing us a million times. Didn’t care to even come and checkup and ask if our food was okay. And also had to call her over for the check. For a place with this little of tables should not be struggling like that.

The milkshakes are quite something and would be a 5 star, but there was hardly any ice cream and what was there had melted.
