Umami Asian Bistro - Raleigh

I walked into the restaurant during open hours while customers were being served in the dining room. The host glanced at me and abruptly said that they were closed and not serving at the moment. It felt like a made-up excuse, especially since there were tables available and others were still dining. I can't help but wonder if this was some form of discrimination, as it didn’t make any sense. I won’t be returning to this place, nor will my friends or family.

The host mumbled something about 'not serving right now,' even though I could see other guests being served in the lobby. It was evident that this response was not genuine. The whole experience felt highly unprofessional and perhaps even discriminatory.

I spent the entire week calling multiple times and leaving messages about my situation, but received no response. Eventually, I had to contact my credit card company to dispute the charge since I never got my order and hadn’t heard back from the restaurant. They informed me that I did receive a partial refund, but it wasn’t the full amount I was charged. I don't know what’s going on with Umami, but it’s completely unacceptable to ignore my inquiries and not refund me the full amount for an order I never received. Be cautious when ordering online, and don’t expect them to answer the phone. Umami really needs to improve.

Love the atmosphere! The themed parties with live Dj's be lit. They also have a upstairs and balcony overlooking Hillsborough st.

I’ve only ever ordered pick up orders since being a bartender I don’t have time to place orders on apps, never had a problem before. Always got my order taken by a nice lady. The guy who answers the phone is rude though, refused to take my order and told me they don’t do pick up orders when clearly they have 3 times for me. Feel sorry for the sweet lady who has to deal with him, won’t be returning.
