Sumo Japanese Kitchen - Rapid City

Most authentic Japanese kitchen in town.. They have the fresh sushi, and other cooked dishes. Beer on tap, kegs to go. Also it is in the old Hall Inn completely remodeled inside, awesome!

Fast and tasty lunch 4 Stars. Stopped for lunch. Had Pork Gyoza appetizer. Six pieces, pork filling very good. Fried to a light and crispy golden brown. Recommend.<br/ <br/ Had the Aloha Chicken Bowl as an entree. Which is panko fried chicken strips with a sweet chili glaze. Very good. Sweet and a hint of heat. They provided additional hot sauce which tasted like a mix of buffalo wing sauce and siriacha sauce mixed together. Extremely good.<br/ <br/ All bowl dishes were served with white rice, brown rice or udon noodles. The rice or noodles then has fresh carrots, spinach and bean sprouts on the side. Everything was served hot and fresh. I was very happy with my meal and would return.

Great Sushi, attentive service, reasonably priced, We were passing through town and had dinner at Sumo. The appetizers, rolls sushi were great as was the cold beer. Poke bowl with ahi salmon crab salad, fresh veggies was perfect. Punch Spider rolls were fresh tasty. Fresh spring roll with shrimp peanut sauce outstanding. Teriyaki chicken bowl with veggies rice wonderful. Service was very attentive and we will be back next time we’re in the area.

I got carry out from Sumo during the pandemic and they were amazing and easy to get carry out from. My Mt. Fuji roll was AMAZING and the place is so cute inside. I can’t wait to eat in here someday. It just had the coolest little vibe. There was a group of friends discussing the Toy Story franchise over their lunch and the decor just makes you want to sip miso and read a book while snacking on sushi rolls for the whole afternoon. Thanks for making my day, Sumo.

Food was amazing, customer service was amazing. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone.
