What an awesome hidden gym of a restaurant on the pier in Redondo Beach. They have a vast seafood menu and a cool vibe. Circa 1970. Full bar for all your drink needs. The seafood is simply amazing and well worth the price. The views out the windows are outstanding making this a unique dining experience.
I visited this restaurant for drinks and food and had a great experience. The service was a bit slow, likely because it was Sunday. The salsa was fantastic, and the chips were perfect. I ordered the chicken tacos, and they were delicious. I would definitely recommend this place!
As for the food, its taste ranged from average to below average. For a restaurant that has been around since 1952 and is purportedly popular, the dishes tasted like they had never evolved from the past. From the oysters to the seafood combo, everything felt outdated. Major improvements are needed across the entire menu. The clam chowder was among the worst I’ve ever had—it tasted like mud. Although it came with the main dish, the salad was a poor excuse for an accompaniment. I could make a better salad in five seconds with high-quality ingredients. It was just a sad assembly of greens with balsamic vinaigrette. Even the simplest dinner salads deserve better. The cheese garlic bread was nothing remarkable—just subpar. I wouldn't recommend the oysters on the half shell, which might have been due to being out of season; it might be better to remove them from the menu entirely. The seafood combo was also underwhelming; I could whip up something far better at home in no time. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because of the decent service. On a positive note, there's plenty of parking available at the pier. The interior has a nice atmosphere, evoking a classic beach restaurant vibe. Located in the heart of the pier, the view is stunning, and the open windows let in the fresh Redondo Beach air.
I had a nice lunch at Redondo Beach Pier. The food was a bit pricey for what you get, and the service was a tad slow, but dining right by the water made it a memorable experience. We enjoyed the flavorful garlic bread and the fish and chips, which were quite good. They had crabcakes available when we were leaving, and I wish I had the chance to try them.
